Ilana is a psychologist and an Associate Member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Technology Sydney, and holds degrees in Arts, Law, and Education from the University of New South Wales.
Ilana is a non-judgemental therapist who brings warmth, compassion, and dedication to her work. She has experience working with adults presenting with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, grief, adjustment difficulties, low-self esteem, addiction, binge eating, emotion regulation difficulties, and difficulties associated with complex trauma. Drug and alcohol use is a particular area of interest for Ilana, and she has facilitated group therapy programs for adults dealing with addiction in an inpatient clinic at a private hospital.
Previously, Ilana has worked in a community mental health service treating individuals with complex and chronic mental health difficulties, and at Cumberland Hospital with people experiencing emotion regulation and personality difficulties in the context of complex trauma. She has published research articles investigating the long-term impacts of intergenerational trauma, and on the factors influencing individuals’ decisions to undergo bariatric surgery for weight loss.
Ilana provides both short and longer-term therapy and adopts an integrative approach. She incorporates psychodynamic and relational frameworks and draws upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy.
